DISCUSSION/ADVISORIES
An Alberta clipper-type low pressure wave tracking across southern Canada will bring the risk of some light snow tonight, but the key word is light. Most place will see minimal amounts of snowfall. The best likelihood of 2-3″ will be over the Adirondacks, but elsewhere the snow will be of little consequence. The system will continue to track north of the region on Saturday with brisk winds about the area. Initially the winds will be out of the south before becoming westerly and ushering in a colder airmass as the day progresses. A few snow or rain showers may develop tomorrow ahead of the cold front, but they’ll be scattered and not widespread, with any precipitation remaining light. Colder temperatures spilling into the area on NW winds Saturday night and into Sunday will bring a noticeable change in the airmass after having several days in the 40s this past week. Below normal temperatures can be expected through Monday before moderation begins on Tuesday with readings back to more seasonable levels. Sunday through Tuesday will all be dry before the risk of rain heads towards the area come Wednesday of next week as a low pressure storm system tracks up to the west of the region. A mild flow of air looks to work into the area despite the rain and we could see our first 50 degree day since back at the end of December when we had a few 50 degree days just before the start of the new year.
