Albuquerque –
Earlier today, we were the first to report about a shooting that happened last night at the Dragon Horn Tavern located at 2906 Juan Tabo Blvd NE. The shooting incident left one person dead. When officers arrived they found at least one gunshot victim and that person had died on scene.
A person within APD who is not authorized to speak to the media said a bartender had shot someone at the tavern.
It has now been confirmed by APD that 30-year-old Jeremy Saiz of Albuquerque has been charged with the murder of a patron at the tavern. APD’s civilian public information director of communications said the shooting/murder happened on Tuesday. In the interest of fact checking APD PIO’s, and providing accurate information to our readers our sources and the criminal complaint debunked the Tuesday narrative and stated it did in fact happen on Wednesday which was yesterday on 11/27/2024. We strongly fight to keep misinformation from coming out of our outlet. We strive to do this even tho we don’t have a $350,000.00 budget to pay our staff as APD does.
According to the criminal complaint, two employees said a patron asked Saiz to play a game of pool and a verbal altercation occurred. Both men exited the tavern and it is unclear what else was said during the confrontation. A single gunshot is heard and the victim stumbles back into the tavern. His last words were “bro” allegedly directed at Saiz.
Saiz fled the scene, and went to his home. An off-duty APD officer was able to contact detectives saying he received information that Saiz had killed someone at work and wanted to turn himself in.
APD homicide detectives went to the secondary location and found Saiz. They placed him under arrest and searched the vehicle he left the bar in. They were able to find a handgun inside the vehicle. When questioned he refused to answer questions and requested his attorney.
Saiz is charged with first degree murder, tampering with evidence, negligent use of a deadly weapon (intoxication), and unlawful carrying firearm in a liquor establishment.
