The Boston Celtics blew an early 22-point lead and fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Friday’s showdown at TD Garden, 123-116.
Boston jumped out to a 25-3 lead over the first four minutes of the game, but Cleveland didn’t back down. Donovan Mitchell (41 points) led the comeback effort and helped secure the Cavs’ ninth consecutive victory.
Jayson Tatum went off for 46 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists in the deflating defeat. Jaylen Brown also had a big night with 37 points, but the Celtics’ supporting cast couldn’t hold up its end of the bargain.
The C’s will look to get back on track when they host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
